It surpassed 2001 summer income by 14%, its previous best summer. Advanced bookings for summer 2004 are already more than 300% of the total advanced bookings made for 2003 at this time, suggesting another record year. Much credit is given to Stone Mountain’s promotion to family reunions and groups in response to a slowing market after 9/11. Previously a little known property, Stone Mountain Lodge was initially promoted in early 2000 to attract more vacationers and establish it as a small destination resort. As family reunions started to book, it was recognized as a key aspect of the business. Located just outside of Lyons, Colorado on a scenic 45 acre property, Stone Mountain Lodge has a unique appeal for family reunions and groups. It has a broad range of affordable accommodations, including cabins, rooms, and campsites, that satisfy the varied needs of families. In addition, its swimming pool, fishing pond, ducks, and trail make it exciting for kids. The property is also pet friendly. The small home town nature of Lyons with close proximity to Boulder and Estes Park is another attraction for reunions. It gives them an easily accessible central base to meet and relax. Peter & Mindy Makuta, living in Boulder, CO. since 1984, have been involved in real estate investment since 1997. They left 20 year careers in software development early in the year 2000.
