The
Red Cliffs
The Red Cliffs that tower above Stone Mountain Lodge are the same
sandstone rock
 formations
that are quarried in the area. Lyons sandstone can be seen, used
for building, all over the front range of Colorado, a s
well as all over the country. Just one example is its extensive use for the
buildings at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Their Tuscan architecture makes
use of Lyons sandstone like nowhere else. As you would expect, many buildings in
the town of Lyons use the local sandstone. As you enter the town of
Lyons from the east, you will notice several places where sandstone is sold.
