Cabin 17

Cabin 17, originally built in the early 1900's, has been renovated several times in the past, but nothing compares to its current elegance. Its latest renovation was completed in July 2000. Most of its furnishings came from the upper 2 floors of the historic Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, where many presidents and famous people have stayed.

The living room is part of the original cabin. Originally it was simply a wood shell. At a later date, perhaps in the 1920's, interior walls and electricity were added. The cabin was gradually enlarged to the lovely cabin it is now. Today the entire cabin has been completely renovated keeping to this original style. The living room has an elegant gas fireplace stove that soothes cold winter days or chilly nights.

Cabin 17 has a front porch that overlooks the pool, and the mountain to the west. A great place to have a cool drink, or a glass of wine, while watching the sun set. The back of the cabin is very private and faces up the mountain.

The primary bedroom has a cathedral ceiling with a brass chandelier that originally hung in the Brown Palace Hotel in Denver. Being at the back of the cabin, the view out the windows, including a high arched window, is of the trees and rock cliffs that tower above Stone Mountain Lodge.  This bedroom is furnished in cherry and maple pieces from the Brown Palace. The second bedroom also located at the back of the cabin, is very private.  A tree-of-life motif is in the heavy oak furniture here. The room is finished by a lovely brass headboard.

The kitchen was remodeled to provide all the modern conveniences, yet an original built-in cabinet with shelves as well as a low passage to the living room was kept to preserve the old character. The bath was completely redone to accommodate a 6 foot jetted tub and attractive pedestal sink.

Each room in this cabin is painted in bold colors that beautifully complement the furnishings while the bedrooms, living room and hall have been carpeted in warm green tones. You will totally enjoy this wonderful cabin which can accommodate up to 6 guests.
